Buying Washing Machine In Ibadan: My Experience And 2 Kobo Advice

Here is my experience shopping for a new washing machine in Ibadan.

When my washing machine started acting up, making guttural sounds like an ancient generator, I decided to shop for a new one. Little did I know that finding washing machines in Ibadan would turn into such a stressful but funny adventure. From expensive stores to honest advice, here’s how my Dugbe-Ogunpa adventure went.

First Stop: Fouani and Solat Stores- For Top of the Range Washing Machine in Ibadan

My first stop was Fouani Stores a well-known place for LG products in Ibadan and Nigeria. I walked in feeling confident that I’d find a good washing machine within my budget.

But when I saw the prices, I almost ran back out! Everything was so expensive, and I quickly realized this wasn’t going to be easy. I looked at the various options spanning LG and HiSense but none was looking nice for my budget. I decided to try Solat Electronics, another big store close by. Unfortunately, the prices there were just as scary. They however had more variations including Midea, Nexus, Scanfrost, Bruhm and some hard to remember brands.

Next Stop: Local Stores in Ibadan – For Your Affordable Washing Machine in Ibadan

Not ready to give up, I decided to try smaller, local stores. The prices here were lower than Fouani and Solat, but they were still high. The same machines and even more names. We are talking about non-specialized stores that would stock anything. Does this mean a trade off between top quality and price? In a fix.

It seems what the big stores lacked in low prices, they made up for in quality assurance, variety and ambiance.

I was starting to feel like buying a new washing machine in Ibadan would cost me more than I was ready to spend.

An Honest Seller Saves the Day

As I wandered through the local stores, I met a seller who gave me some very honest advice. He asked if my old washing machine was an LG brand. When I said yes, he suggested I go back to Fouani Stores and try their repair service. According to him, it would be cheaper than buying a new one.

I was surprised by his advice—most sellers just want to make a sale. But since I didn’t have many options, I decided to take his advice.

Repairing My Old Washing Machine

At Fouani Stores, I found their repair service and explained my problem. The team checked my machine and gave me a repair estimate. Agreements signed, payments made and in a few days, my washing machine should be fixed and working like new.

This however took more time than expected as they said some parts have to be ordered from abroad. Eventually, the machine was fixed and I can say it’s worth the wait.

What I Learned About Buying Washing Machines in Ibadan

  1. Big Stores Are Expensive: Places with shiny doors and Air Conditioned interiors have high-quality machines, but the prices can shock you.

2. Local Stores Offer Options: They have cheaper alternatives, but you need to be careful about quality.

3. Repairs Can Be Cheaper: Your old machine may not be completely broken. Repairing it can save you a lot of money.

4. Honest Sellers Exist: Not every seller is out to just make money by all means—some truly want to help.

In the end..

Shopping for washing machines in Ibadan taught me to explore all my options before making a decision. From expensive stores to helpful advice, the experience was both frustrating and educational.

If you’re looking for washing machines in Ibadan, don’t forget to consider repairs and ask around for honest advice. You might save yourself time, money, and stress.
